At Resource Housing, we believe that a home is more than four walls. It is a foundation from which to build a better life. That is why our support does not stop at providing accommodation — we actively work with each resident to develop the skills needed for independent living.
What are life skills?
Life skills encompass the everyday abilities that many of us take for granted: managing a budget, cooking nutritious meals, maintaining a clean home, keeping appointments, and navigating public services. For residents who have experienced homelessness, care, or instability, these skills may need to be developed from scratch.
Our support model
Each resident is assigned a dedicated key worker who meets with them regularly to set personal goals and review progress. Support plans are reviewed monthly and adapted as needs change. We also run group sessions covering topics such as:
- Budgeting and benefits
- CV writing and job applications
- Healthy cooking on a budget
- Understanding tenancy rights
Success stories
Many of our residents have gone on to secure independent tenancies, employment, and educational opportunities after their time with us. We are proud of every step forward our residents take, no matter how small.
